The East Alabama Medical Center Foundation secures charitable gifts on behalf of East Alabama Medical Center and its programs. Part of the foundation is the Breast Health Fund, which provides year-round free mammogram screenings for underserved or uninsured women.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a special time at Three Sixty. Several of our team members have been affected by breast cancer and we are serious about our commitment to the fight against this disease.
One of our co-founders, Tricia Young, was a toddler when her own mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
"She and my father faced her diagnosis bravely and she underwent a double mastectomy. A few years later, against the judgment of her doctors, Mom had my sister Diana in order to make our family complete. Tricia’s family story has a happy ending; her mother is now 38 years cancer-free! She and the Three Sixty team wish the same for every family affected by breast cancer. Early detection and intervention are critical for improving survival rates, yet many in our community do not have the means to receive the very care that could detect breast cancer and ultimately save their lives.
Contributing so Much to Our Community
In 2018, the Foundation and breast cancer fund worked together to raise money for a Genius 3D Mammography exam that can detect breast cancer 15 months earlier and find 41 percent more invasive cancers than conventional mammography alone.
The EAMC Foundation uses the Mammography exam to screen uninsured and underserved women who have no other access to this vital screening procedure. Through the Breast Health Program, the EAMC Foundation offers peace of mind and a chance at survival to women in need.
The EAMC Foundation relies on donations from the community, and Three Sixty is proud to include the Breast Health Program in our Giving Campaign. Since all foundation staff are EAMC employees, 100% of the donations to the EAMC Foundation go toward the specific program specified by the donor.
