Give Back in October: East Alabama Mental Health Center

Give Back in October: East Alabama Mental Health Center

During her many years teaching in Auburn City Schools, Three Sixty REALTOR® Sandi Williams saw firsthand the challenges that arise for families coping with mental illness. When she had students suffering from mental illness, Sandi received support from East Alabama Mental Health, an organization that was present in the schools to support children, their families, and school personnel. Three Sixty is proud to include East Alabama Mental Health as part of our October Commitment to Community Campaign!

"They worked in concert with the family, the child’s teachers, and school administration to assess needs and create, monitor, and carry out a plan to meet each child’s specific needs. They checked in with me regularly and provided guidance to me and outside counseling for the child."

East Alabama Mental Health opened in 1967 with a mission to provide excellent care for individuals living with mental illness, substance abuse problems, and intellectual disabilities. They work to meet the needs of residents of Lee, Russell, Chambers, and Tallapoosa counties.

Nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience some form of mental illness. Of those living with mental illness, 7.9 million also have a co-occurring substance abuse issue. Mental illness is treatable, yet many people do not receive the treatment they need.

Outreach, Substance Abuse Assistance and Children’s Services

The organization offers outreach services, substance abuse services, family and children’s services, services for those with intellectual abilities, and prevention services.

An important aspect of East Alabama Mental Health’s programs involves providing drug prevention services and programs to prevent and identify mental illness in young children. These preventative services make a difference for the future of our children and our community.

"Their counselors came to the schools to teach classes focused on building healthy self-esteem and providing anti-bullying education."

Well-funded and accessible services for those suffering from mental illness are vital to our community. East Alabama Mental Health is working to provide the care and resources that so many of our residents need.

Join Us to #GIVEBACKINOCTOBER

We always have a hard time picking just one non-profit for our October Giving Campaign, so this year we decided to let our clients choose. For every closing in the month of October, Three Sixty will give our clients a choice between seven non-profits to whom we will make a donation in their name!
