Fall is officially here, and there’s no better time to enjoy everything the Auburn & Opelika area has to offer! Football season is in full swing, the weather is starting to cool down, and our community calendar is filling up with some of our favorite seasonal traditions. From Friday night food trucks to pumpkin patches, there are plenty of ways to make the most of fall in our area.
At Three Sixty Real Estate, we love getting to call this community home, so we’ve rounded up a few events and activities you’ll want to add to your fall calendar!
Auburn Homecoming & Family Weekend
Auburn football already makes fall special, but Homecoming takes it to another level! September 25–27 is Auburn University’s Homecoming and Fall Family Weekend. The weekend includes the Homecoming Parade in downtown Auburn, a pep rally, football, and plenty of Auburn traditions.
The Homecoming Parade begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 25, followed by a pep rally on Samford Lawn. It’s the perfect weekend to celebrate Auburn, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy some of the traditions that make the Plains so special.
Grab Dinner at Food Truck Friday
Food Truck Friday is back in downtown Opelika throughout the fall, bringing together local food trucks, live entertainment, vendors, and plenty of family-friendly fun. Upcoming dates include October 2, October 16, and November 20.
The October 16 event will also have a special spooky twist with a Hocus Pocus movie night, making it the perfect October outing. Each Food Truck Friday begins at 5 p.m., so come hungry and enjoy an evening in downtown Opelika!
Visit a Local Pumpkin Patch
Nothing says fall quite like a trip to the pumpkin patch! Auburn has several options nearby for picking the perfect pumpkin, taking fall photos, and spending a day outside.
The Pumpkin Patch at Choctafaula will be open this year from September 26 through November 1, with seasonal activities and its year-round petting zoo. It’s a great spot to spend a fall day with family or friends while enjoying the cooler weather.
Another local favorite, Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch, opens for pumpkin picking on September 25 and offers pumpkins straight from the vine, hayrides, and other farm activities.
Football, Fans & Feathers
If you’re looking for something unique to Auburn, add Football, Fans & Feathers to your fall plans. Hosted by the Auburn University Raptor Center at 4 p.m. on Fridays before home football games, the hour-long program lets guests see eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and other birds of prey in flight.
It’s an especially fun way to kick off an Auburn football weekend and experience a tradition that you won’t find just anywhere!
Live & Local at Town Creek Park
Cooler fall evenings and live music are a great combination! Auburn Parks and Recreation’s Live & Local Music Series will take place at Town Creek Park on October 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 5:30–7 p.m.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab something to eat from the food vendors, and enjoy an evening outside. Even better, the concerts are free and open to the public, making them an easy addition to your fall plans.
Fright Night Movie Event
Get into the Halloween spirit at Auburn Parks and Recreation’s Fright Night Movie Event on October 16 at Lake Wilmore Park. The free event includes a double feature under the stars, beginning with Casper at 6:45 p.m., followed by The Ring at 8:30 p.m.
Complimentary popcorn will be available, along with food for purchase. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, settle in, and make a night of it!
AU Pumpkin Carve
One of Auburn’s favorite Halloween traditions returns on October 30 with the 38th Annual AU Pumpkin Carve. It’s a great way to spend the night before Halloween and see some seriously creative pumpkin designs while enjoying the festive atmosphere on Auburn’s campus.
Whether you’re there to admire the carvings or simply enjoy one of Auburn’s longtime fall traditions, the Pumpkin Carve is definitely worth adding to your October calendar.
Make the Most of Fall in Auburn
From cheering on the Tigers to picking pumpkins, grabbing dinner from a food truck, and enjoying a cool evening outdoors, there are plenty of reasons to love fall in Auburn. The next few months are packed with opportunities to spend time with friends and family, support local events, and enjoy everything our community has to offer.
