Originally from Lee County, Nonet Reese grew up in Auburn/Opelika and loves living, working, and raising a family here. Her career in Real Estate began in 1997 when she started working for a Real Estate development firm. Nonet is passionate about leading and works daily to inspire, educate and lead her team to meet and exceed their goals.

Denim & Diamonds is an annual awards and fundraising gala hosted by the Lee County Association of REALTORS®. This year’s event raised almost $30,000 to benefit two local charities, Mercy Medical Center and the East Alabama Food Bank. Mercy Medical provides medical care and spiritual encouragement to people in Lee County who do not have access to ongoing medical care. Volunteers include physicians, Auburn University Students, members of the community and four staff members. The Food Bank of East Alabama provides meals to children, seniors and working parents who struggle to make ends meet.

National Association of REALTORs Conference in Orlando!

nonetmagcoverTwo weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the National Association of REALTORS conference in Orlando. NAR conferences are held around the country year after year, but it always special when it happens to be at Disney!

NAR is currently at a membership high of over 1.2M members strong. This year more than 50,000 REALTORS attended the conference. Our industry is having a very good year! The conference is FULL of wonderful relevant information for REALTORS all across the nation.

I began my conference with a half day seminar on Smart Growth in the 21st Century. This session was full of useful information for my everyday life in real estate right here in Auburn, AL. The next several days were packed with sessions from heavy hitters in our industry such as Brian Buffini, Bob Wolff and one of my favorites, David Knox. And you can’t go wrong when listening to the NAR Chief Economist, Lawrence Yun.

We were also inspired and motivated by speakers Lou Holtz! Colin Powell was our General session speaker – he was eloquent and humorous.

The EXPO is always exciting – you can find anyone who can help you to do anything in the real estate world! All of your favorite vendors are there and they always have a special gift just for you at the EXPO!

I have  the privilege of knowing so many realtors from across the country and it is so fun running into them each year at these events.

Realtors know how to have fun, and the night life is no exception! Several vendors invited us to receptions and some have STARS…. I was lucky enough to get invited to play FAMILY FEUD with the Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan! So fun! And we were front row for the Concert… TRAIN! All in all this was a wonderful time in Orlando with a few thousand of my closest REALTOR friends!

Nonet and I take on Las Vegas for the International Builders Show!

Photo Jan 20, 10 31 04 PMNonet and I recently took a trip to Las Vegas for the International Builders Show {IBS} 2016, and I would like to share a little IBS Insider Commentary/ Vegas Travel Guide by Tricia with you!! 

First travel tip…. As business owners & moms with plenty of people back home who need us, Nonet & I always try to maximize our time at our locations and we have mastered that by not wasting a whole day for travel, especially when the trip is across the country. We took off late Monday evening and landed in Vegas around 10:45 – this wouldn’t have been so bad, as Vegas is just getting hopping this time of night, but we forgot about the terrible taxi line until we walked up to it! I’ve never seen a taxi line like this one. It took us about 45 minutes to grab a cab to the Caesar’s Palace! Apparently the extra long lines were from other people also trying to maximize their time – guess we aren’t so smart after all! So note to self: next year, we’re taking Uber or Lyft! 

Upon arriving at Caesar’s we found yet another line, but things moved pretty smoothly and we do love Caesar’s – it’s a great central location that we recommend! It is close to many of my favorite Vegas locations.

Since we were responsible and headed straight to our room Monday night, we got up bright and early (well kind of!) and headed off to IBS for a full day! If you have never been, you may have never seen anything like this conference. The Las Vegas Convention Center is HUGE and people are everywhere! We attended several sales & marketing classes, as well as learning about new trends for 2016.

 The EXPO was amazing and our favorite experience there was on a “Universal Design” tour that concluded at the GE Monogram booth. I personally have found my next dishwasher purchase. Trust me, for me to be excited about that is pretty impressive. And yes, for all you coffee drinkers out there, you have GOT to check out the GE Refrigerator with the Keurig in the door. Yes, I said IN THE DOOR! It operates through the water line in the fridge so you never have to worry about adding water to your Keurig again. AMAZING. Great new cabinet designs were also discovered, and the colors of the past new years are still hot – driftwood, grays and of course white!

Don’t worry, we had plenty of fun too – when in Vegas, check out one of our tried & true favorites: Olives at The Bellagio. Tip: Make a reservation, but depending on the season, show up 1 hour to 30 minutes before and request a terrace seat so that you can enjoy the wonderful water show from the Bellagio Lakes! Some of our dining favorites at Olives are the tapenade they bring out with a variety of bread featuring a wonderful foccacia! Some of the other twists on traditional that we dream about in between trips are the tuna tartare & the dirty martini- be sure to order it with blue cheese stuffed olives and the rosemary sprig – we recommend Grey Goose – it will be served in the frostiest glass you have ever seen!

Photo Jan 21, 2 16 27 PMOne of our new favorites, for sure, is Giada at The Cromwell. The Cromwell was once Bill’s Gambling Hall – an eyesore on the strip – but now it is a trendy boutique hotel – wonderful, tucked away lobby, cozy casino and Giada’s Las Vegas flagship restaurant! So chic – love the decor and the food does not disappoint! It was so much fun to try some of my favorites from Giada’s cookbooks that I have made at home and to compare her version to my creation. Try her Rise & Shine juice and the Orzo Meatballs are at MUST! 

My favorite gambling venues are The Bellagio (because it smells like flowers!), Paris, where it always feels like mid afternoon because of the beautiful blue sky and The Wynn, with the extravagant flower displays. But lets face it – they all take your money, so don’t plan on coming home with any! 

More next time from the next trip – I had to repack my suitcase with snow gear this time… off to NYC for the Inman Real Estate Connect Conference less than 48 hours later!

Nonet Reese Appointed to City of Auburn Planning Commission

Expectations….

We all have them. We are all given them. We have a different set for each life activity. We have them for our spouse, our children, the people we work closely with, so of course there are also expectations for your REALTOR. The person you entrust to sell and market your house for the world to see should live up to your expectations. This is why it is imperative to communicate these expectations to your REALTOR. We, as REALTORS, want to do the very best job we possibly can for our clients. Expectations exist for a reason so always work with a professional to ensure that the contract and all other paperwork will be explained and completed correctly. During the negotiation process you should be comfortable in their market knowledge and their ability to respect your wishes when negotiating. From the small expectations, such as, how you would like to be communicated with; phone, text, email. How often you would like to be informed about your sale; To the big expectations, such as, “our family is not willing to move until the end of a certain month”, or that “there really isn’t any additional money that we can get to sell this house at a loss”; and the biggest expectation cannot go unsaid… Get the house SOLD! Also know that there are expectations from the REALTOR to you. We need for you to be honest and have a certain trust level. This is very important; each person needs to feel comfortable sharing information with one another.
