National Association of REALTORs Conference in Orlando!

nonetmagcoverTwo weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the National Association of REALTORS conference in Orlando. NAR conferences are held around the country year after year, but it always special when it happens to be at Disney!

NAR is currently at a membership high of over 1.2M members strong. This year more than 50,000 REALTORS attended the conference. Our industry is having a very good year! The conference is FULL of wonderful relevant information for REALTORS all across the nation.

I began my conference with a half day seminar on Smart Growth in the 21st Century. This session was full of useful information for my everyday life in real estate right here in Auburn, AL. The next several days were packed with sessions from heavy hitters in our industry such as Brian Buffini, Bob Wolff and one of my favorites, David Knox. And you can’t go wrong when listening to the NAR Chief Economist, Lawrence Yun.

We were also inspired and motivated by speakers Lou Holtz! Colin Powell was our General session speaker – he was eloquent and humorous.

The EXPO is always exciting – you can find anyone who can help you to do anything in the real estate world! All of your favorite vendors are there and they always have a special gift just for you at the EXPO!

I have  the privilege of knowing so many realtors from across the country and it is so fun running into them each year at these events.

Realtors know how to have fun, and the night life is no exception! Several vendors invited us to receptions and some have STARS…. I was lucky enough to get invited to play FAMILY FEUD with the Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan! So fun! And we were front row for the Concert… TRAIN! All in all this was a wonderful time in Orlando with a few thousand of my closest REALTOR friends!

Michy Aja earns Certified Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Designation

Michy AjaThree Sixty is proud to announce that Michy Aja is one of the first Realtors® in the nation to earn the new Certified Military Relocation Professional designation from the National Association of Realtors®. While relocation is a periodic event for a military family, it is still stressful. Being married to a Navy Pilot, Michy has personal experience with multiple relocations. Excited to learn of this new program, she jumped right in to learn what opportunities might exist to better help military families.

“My husband was often deployed and all of the work that went into each of our several military moves was “on me”. That could be very overwhelming, and I always wished I could find a Realtor who really understood what I was going through. I’m proud to say that now I can be that person for other military families.”

Training for this certification helped Michy to gain a better understanding of how to best counsel U.S. service members and their families to find housing solutions that best suit their needs in a military relocation. This training extensively explained how eligible active-duty service members and veterans are able to leverage VA financing benefits in the purchase of their home. Michy and all of us at Three Sixty were also happy to find out that the program is set up so that a portion of the application fee is donated to a homeless veteran’s service organization that serves military veterans and assists with their housing needs.

About the Military Relocation Professional Certification Program

Active duty service members and veterans represent a significant potential client base for NAR members. Active duty personnel number more than 1.1 million and approximately 70% choose private sector homes for their housing needs. Veterans number more than 22 million. Real estate transactions for relocating military personnel are unique in many aspects. The time frame can be significantly compressed. Military service members may have only days to see homes, make an offer, and get under contract. Military service members may be deployed during the real estate transaction, which may require a power of attorney.
