Hollis Marshall – Realtor, Interior Designer, and Expert “Re-arranger”

Hollis_MarshallThose of you who know me know that I am passionate about Real Estate, but what you might not know is that I am also a registered Interior Designer! In my “previous” corporate life I worked primarily in Healthcare design, but I have spent the majority of my Interior Design career working in high end residential and custom nursery design. After moving to Auburn in 2011 and staying home for a bit with our three children, I saw that there was a real need for decorating and design at a reasonable price, so I began offering my services. It has been a wonderful experience working with clients in Auburn. My specialty is in re-purposing items my clients already have to maximize functionality and transform with style!

My expertise has been invaluable with my real estate clients. For folks selling a home, staging has become such an important part of the process and it is my specialty! For people purchasing a home, I am able to give constructive advice on how prospective homes can be modified to be the dream home so many people desire. Whether you need help with color schemes, paint selection, how to “shop your home,” how to redecorate for a set budget, furniture layout, refinishing furniture, you name it – I am here to help!

It’s time for our 5 question quiz with our January Spotlight Agents. Enjoy these fun and interesting answers!

Brad Tapley

1. When you were a chid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Veterinarian. I’ve always loved being around animals and being outdoors enjoying nature.

2. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

“You’re a lifesaver!” I always feel I have accomplished something when I hear this. Whether it’s a simple task helping a friend or from being a nurse caring for someone’s family member. It’s always good to put a smile on someone’s face and know you made a difference in someone’s life.

3. What do you trust with your life?

A Lifejacket. I fish many bass tournaments and if the boat were to sink I could make it to shore without exerting too much energy.

4. What was the first thought you had when you woke up this morning?

“How many times can I hit snooze and still make it to my hunting stand before daylight?!”

5. If you could be any age for a week, what age would it be?

I would stay 26 as so many exciting things are happening at this point in my life.

1. When you were a chid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A school teacher.  I had the best 2nd grade teacher and wanted to be just like her.

2.What is the best compliment you have ever received?

When someone compliments my children.  With life, sometimes you feel like you are pulled in so many directions and are not doing anything well.  When a compliment is given to my children about their manners/behavior it is such encouragement that my husband and I are raising good kids and succeeding in a game where there is not a playbook and rules.  It is a great feeling.

3. What do you trust with your life?

I trust God with my life.  I know he has a plan for me although sometimes I feel like I am still figuring it out!  He has always provided everything I needed even when I didn’t think there was a way.

4. What was the first thought you had when you woke up this morning?

“I overslept! I have to get busy with work while the kids are still sleeping.”  I am looking forward to them being back to school so that we can get back to our “normal” routine.

5.  If you could be any age for a week, what age would it be?

23!  This age was wonderful and I did not take full advantage of it then.  I wish I knew then what I know now!  It is a great age where you are stepping out into the world from college, establishing your career and where you want to begin putting your roots down.  It is a great age to travel, experience adventures and for the most part have only yourself to worry about.  If you make a mistake, there is still plenty of time to recover from it.  Life is easy and carefree at 23.
